This lovely Pair of Late 20th Century Royal Doulton English Porcelain Cabinet Plates bear all of the hallmarks of Reg Johnson’s outstanding talent as a ceramics painter “par excellence”. Superbly decorated with sprays of pansies, the borders heavily gilded, they offer the perfect introduction to the works of this talented Staffordshire artist, examples of whose work may now be viewed at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. Each plate signed on the obverse, the first, R. Johnson, the second, Reginald Johnson, the reverse of the one with Royal Doulton brown printed backstamp, of the other with black printed Royal Doulton backstamp together with PAINTED BY – REGINALD JOHNSON, this second plate bearing the artist’s U.K. Postcode, written with a security pen.
