Description

A beautiful and sympathetic study in solid Marble of a studious young girl reading.

She is dressed in pinafore and cap, the style being of the 18th century. The sculptor here picking out the embroidered edgings in gilt. She is sculpted upon a book have gilt to the leaf edges.

Some discolouration to marble, possibly iron oxides as is common.

No damage. No chips.

A captivating study of significant age, probably19th century.
