It is a delightful silver TRAY which is pierced, chased and embossed with a jungle scene.

It is really nicely made – well balanced and a delight to hold!

There is a lot of lovely detail such as the elephant in the centre and the ‘scallop’ design which has a hyena or dog in front and behind it. The trees are also very nicely detailed and engraved.

One of the amazing aspects is the way the border has been pierced: a sure sign of quality and skill.

It is quite thin and would have taken a very skilled worker to beat in the design and shape the silver sheet into this beautiful and functional tray. It may have been used as a calling card tray for visitors.

There is some tarnish as shown but this should clean away easily.

There are also some minor ‘waves’ along the edge but this is a minor blemish.

This is a delightful and rare antique silver tray that measures 20cm x 15cm x 0.5cm and weighs 117g.

Tested as 90% silver but most likely to be sterling silver.
