Royal Doulton English Porcelain Figurine “Jack Point” ~ HN 3920

From the Prestige series, issued in a Limited Edition of two hundred and fifty, of which this is number 54, and offered here complete with certificate, this large and fine Late 20th Century Royal Doulton Porcelain Figurine, ” “Jack Point” ~ HN 3920, depicts the strolling Jester from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Savoy Opera, “The Yeomen of the Guard”. Beautifully decorated in a blue, gold and red palette, this fine piece was designed by Doulton’s famous Art Director Charles Noke, and was issued in 1996. The Jester, whose function as an entertainer dates from medieval times, wears the traditional “Fool’s” hat with it’s three bells. He stands, wand tucked into his waist, pig’s bladder in hand, lute and satchel upon his back, looking pensive, as though mulling over his next outrageous trick. The underside fully marked with the Royal Doulton backstamp in gold, plus, in gilt script, the title, Jack Point, HN 3920, This hand-made and hand-decorated figure is issued in a limited edition of two hundred and fifty, Modelled by NOKE, { facsimile signature }, ©1996 ROYAL DOULTON, THIS IS No. 54 { numerals in black }, black “umbrella” cypher for 1998, plus in puce, Painter’s Monogram, BA, perhaps for Brian Ashmore, listed as working at Doulton.
