A fine Early 19th Century Antique English Copper Tea Urn / Samovar of the Late Regency / Early Victorian period. The cover stamped “WARRANTED BEST LONDON MANUFACTURE”, the heater tube retaining it’s cap together with the iron slug which would be heated in the fire prior to insertion. An unusually complete example which comes not only with an original early teabag, but also with a note, here reproduced, penned by a former owner which touches briefly on the history of the piece. viz :- “This copper Tea Urn stood on Grandpa Ashton’s sideboard when as a boy I visited him at least once a week in the 1890’s. Last used at my twenty first birthday party Nov. 23. 1901. Holds 12 cupsfull.” Of ornate design, exceptional quality, and in excellent original condition throughout, this superb example is quite the finest samovar that we have encountered in many a year, and is sure to appeal to the most discerning Interior Decorator.Height ~ 31.50 cm. / 12.40 inches ~ Width ~ 28.50 cm. / 11.22 inches ~ Depth ~ 25.50 cm. / 10.03 inches ~ Year ~ Circa 1835 / 40.
