A George II sterling silver coffee pot, circa 1740’s. Engraved armorials to both sides show that this coffeepot was commissioned by an aristocratic family.
Baluster form tapering body resting on circular stepped spreading foot. Scroll-decorated cast handle mountings and ornate leaf capped swan neck spout.
Stepped and domed ogee lid surmounted with a figural pinecone finial. The double C-scroll handle is made of fruitwood that has lovely warm patina and beautiful grain.
Finely chased all over with scrolls, rocaille work and foliage – the engraving is very crisp and shows highly masterful workmanship.
747 g / 24.0 t oz
24 cm tall
18 cm spout to handle
11 cm base diameter
Very good antique condition. Hallmarks worn; tiny nicks to one side of the spout; small visible dent above one armorial and a faint ding above it; where the lower part of the handle joins the silver mount, the silver is a bit pushed down near the pin.
