We are pleased to offer this wonderful set of a spoon and fork made by Jane Brownett – widow of Abraham Brownett – who worked from 1 Richmond Buildings, Dean Street, Soho, London and had hallmarks Registered in January 1868 and January 1884.
Jane Brownett is known for her high quality and often cast silver work – her pieces are highly sought after.Â
This is clearly a very high quality set with the delightful lions holding a shield which is plain but was meant to be engraved with initials.
The spoon has a ‘rat tail’ at the back of the bowl and each piece is fully hallmarked for London 1871. The year mark shows that this is an early piece as Jane Brownett had only registered as a silversmith in 1868.
Each has a very good weight of around 30g (total combined weight is 68g) and each piece is 16cm in length.
In amazing and remarkable condition with just some minor tarnishing which would clean off.
UK insured postage is included.
