Description

A good Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Indented Pottery Dessert Plate, of Indian interest, printed in a medium blue palette with the “Monopteros” pattern by John Rogers and Son of Dale Hall, Longport, Staffordshire { fl. 1815 – 1842 }. The reverse bearing the impressed Maker’s Mark, ROGERS, together with the underglaze blue printed numeral 1. The pattern is illustrated, { Plate 2 – 14 } in Michael Sack’s “India on Transferware” { 2009 }, is known to be a view entitled “Remains of an Ancient Building near Firoz Shah’s Cotilla, Delhi”, and is based on an aquatint in Thomas Daniell’s “Oriental Scenery { Part 1, 5 }” published in 1795 ~
