Antique English Georgian Blue & White Transfer Plate ~ “Views” ~ John Rogers & Son

A good Early 19^th Century Antique English Georgian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Plate by John Rogers & Son of Longport, Staffordshire, { 1814 – 36 }, from their “Views” series, this one decorated with an as yet unidentified scene. Illustrated on page 170 of Coysh & Henrywood’s “Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1789 – 1880 ~ Vol II, the pattern further features as Unidentified Scene A on Page 131 of Volume 6 of The Transferware Recorder, where it is illustrated alongside the original source print which is believed to be an engraving after Claude Lorrain. The reverse with upper case impressed Maker’s Mark, ROGERS and small old chip / glaze loss, not visible from the front, which can be clearly seen in Image 4. The obverse with a couple of tiny “stilt mark like” blemishes.
