A perennially popular Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Pratt-ware Pot-lid, “The Village Wedding”, Catalogued as No. 240 in Ball’s A.C.C. Price Guide, and offered here in good order, free of chips or cracks, mounted in a turned stained beech frame. The design, inspired by the painting of the same name by David Teniers the Younger was registered by F. & R. Pratt on 15 January 1857 and early examples such as this bear the Registration Mark on the jug at bottom right, which feature was discontinued in 1883, as well as the towel on the ground, both of which elements are absent from later issues.
