This antique silver brooch with a horseshoe design was made during the Victorian period.
The back of the brooch is hallmarked with the Birmingham anchor for 1891. There are two flowers on either side of the horseshoe with additional detailed decoration.
Interestingly, the outer border of the brooch has the traditional little balls, a very typical attribute on metal brooches of this period. However, there are 4 balls at the top of the brooch but only 3 on the bottom. There is an image of this which clearly shows that the fourth ball was never produced!
The pin is secure and fits into a c clasp. It is in a good condition overall.
The dimensions are 3cm long x 1.8cm wide.
