Arts & Crafts carved tray made in Japan and retailed through Liberty & Co c1905. Dark stained over a red lacquered background and depicts the three monkeys in the “hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil” poses. Commissioned by Liberty as part of their exotic range, the monkey design is rare and desirable as many of the exotic range items were carved with floral designs and much more common.
In good condition, small amount of wear on the corners.
