Beautiful Kangxi Blue & White Chinese Baluster Vase Boy Riding Qilin & Attendants
This is a wonderful antique LARGE vase painted in the typical style of the Kangxi period.
The scene is of a boy riding a mythical beast known as a Qilin (or Kilin) and he is followed by two boys holding standards/banners.
It is in very good, clean, unrepaired and undamaged condition as shown.
There is a scattering of ‘iron spots’ both on the inside and the outside of this vase. The way that they are distributed across this vase, and in particular on the inside, demonstrates that they are genuine and not manufactured. Furthermore, these ‘iron spots’ are under the glaze when observed at 100x magnification (we used a handheld microscope).
In addition to this, there are a few ‘dead gas’ bubbles that appear as bubbles with a silvery-grey appearance as shown in the images provided (shown approximately 100x magnification).
It measures approximately H 20cm x 20cm.at widest point.
It is a very decorative piece and would look amazing in the right setting!
