Outstanding French rosewood Bureau De Dame / lady’s writing desk in excellent condition complete with working lock and key. When the key is turned the shaped fall front springs open and all the drawers are unlocked. The bureau has a two-tier structure with a smaller upper section containing two drawers, each with a turned bun handle. The lower section features a curved front with a decorative inlay in the centre. Standing on four elegantly curved legs united by a shaped apron with conceals a drawer. The interior of the bureau has a leather writing surface, an open central compartment with two single drawers on one side and a double drawer on the other. All the drawers are mahogany lined, run smooth and are of dove tail construction. The beautiful rosewood veneers have a rich, dark finish with lighter kings wood accents, creating a striking contrast. Like all antiques there are imperfections, the leather writing surface is particularly worn, however this is a solid very attractive bureau that will add style and elegance to any home office.
