James Shoolbred Large Walnut Dinner Gong

An early 20th century large floor standing dinner gong designed and made by James Shoolbred & Co. A walnut carved frame to the circular hand beaten gong, together with beater and stands on shaped feet. Stamped to the base along with makers ivorine label.  In very good condition, a lovely colour and there is no damage. 101cmH x 72cmW

James Shoolbred & Co, also known as Jas Shoolbred was established in the 1820’s and by the 1860’s began designing and manufacturing its own furniture and became one of the first large department stores in London and was granted a Royal warrant by the 1880’s.
