A stunning example of early 18th-century craftsmanship, this English Queen Anne walnut grandfather clock is an exquisite blend of elegance and functionality. Dating to circa 1710, the clock features a gracefully shaped and moulded hood adorned with decorative brass finials, adding to its regal presence.
The glazed arched panel door reveals the stunning break-arched dial, decorated with ornate cast brass mounts. Prominently displayed is the maker’s name, “Jno Everall London”, a testament to the quality and pedigree of its creation. The dial also bears the Latin inscription Tempus Fugit, meaning “Time flies,” a poetic reminder of the passage of time.
The clock’s long trunk is beautifully crafted from richly coloured walnut, with a break-arched door and an elegant box base and plinth. While evidence of historic worm is visible, it has long since been resolved, and the piece remains in superb condition.
In good working order, this clock is a true statement of antique design and functionality.
