This Regency gentleman’s wardrobe, dating from around 1810, is constructed from richly figured mahogany with a deep, lustrous patina that only centuries of age can provide.
The wardrobe is crowned with a boldly architectural pediment, lending a stately presence. The upper section features a pair of panelled doors with beautifully grained mahogany veneers framed by finely carved bobbin turned columns to each side. Opening to reveal a spacious hanging area, the interior is fitted with a brass hanging rail, allowing for continued practical use while retaining its antique charm.
Below, the base section offers generous storage through an arrangement of drawers: two short drawers over two long graduated drawers, featuring brass swan-neck handles with intricately detailed backplates and escutcheons. The drawer fronts echo the beautiful flame mahogany used throughout the piece.
The lower apron features a shaped skirt and elegant splayed bracket feet.
