Royal Doulton English Porcelain Character Figurine ~ “Punch and Judy Man” ~ HN 2765

This amusing Late 20th Century Royal Doulton English Porcelain Character Figurine, “Punch and Judy Man” ~ HN 2765, decorated in a green and yellow colourway, was designed by leading Doulton artist William K. Harper and was issued from 1981 to 1990. Once a regular feature to be found, together with the donkeys, along the promenade at every English seaside resort, Punch and Judy shows, having fallen out of favour in today’s “politically correct” environment, nevertheless offer a backward glimpse of childhood pleasure to many older folk.  The underside fully marked in green with the Royal Doulton backstamp of the period, PUNCH AND JUDY MAN, HN 2765, © ROYAL DOULTON TABLEWARE LTD. 1980, indistinct impressed Model Number, plus, in brown, Painter’s Monogram, KN, for Keith Newman.
