This rare and fine Early 20th Century Vintage Royal Doulton English Porcelain Figurine, “A Spanish Lady” ~ HN 1290, decorated in a lavender, yellow and black colourway, was designed by leading Doulton artist Leslie Harradine, and was issued from 1928 to 1940. This example fully marked on the underside in green with the Royal Doulton printed backstamp as used from 1927 to 1932, In red script, A. Spanish. Lady, HN. 1290, Potted. by. Doulton & C, indistinct impressed Model Number or possible Date Code, which appears to read 068, and may indicate that this figurine was potted in June 1928, which, if so, would make this a First Year of Issue figurine, plus in red, the Painter’s Monogram, BC, interlaced, for Bertha M. Capes, recorded as working at Doulton Circa 1927 onwards.
